Dear Jan,
Thanks for your concern. You might be aware that in Europe there are numerous tango events taking place all the time, many of them attracting hundreds of people, despite the fact it is not always it is not always possible to avoid time clashes.

You can take a look at these pages to confirm this –even though not all the events are always listed there-:
http://festivals.tango.info/
http://www.tangomarathons.com/event-list/
http://tangofestivals.net/

For example, on the first weekend of April there are several events in Europe which would typically have at least a couple of hundred participants each[*]:

04/04 - 09/04/2012: Kölner Queer Tango Festival, Köln, Germany
05/04 - 08/04/2012: Crazy Chicken Tangomarathon, Oslo, Norway
06/04 - 08/04/2012: Chained Salon Apr 2012, Nijmegen, Netherlands
06/04 - 08/04/2012: Roma TangoMarathon 2012, Roma, Italy
06/04 - 09/04/2012: Yo soy milonguero, Crema, Italy

[*] That is at least what happened in previous occasions.

Going back to your main point of concern, Alchemie is a festival attended by hundreds of people every year. It features workshops from several guest couples, and exhibitions at their specially organized milongas or balls.

This tango holiday in Rome, on the other hand, is a small event which has a maximum limit of 15 couples, and proposes workshops and close supervision by only one couple of teachers, plus dancing at Rome’s regular milongas.

The distance between Rome and Prague is of at least 1000km.

Kind regards.

I am sure organizers of this Rome event have been aware that there have been tango festivals in Prague at the same time (http://tangoalchemie.com/). What sense does it make competing with another event? Europe is small! Better event coordination would be useful.
