Cyrena Drusine and David Mateu,
visiting from Buenos Aires

Mini-Privates held in the back party room during the milonga.

Cyrena Drusine has an impressive dance history beginning at age 8 at the
School of American Ballet studying there until 18, performing with The New
York City Ballet and then going on to develop her tango career which is very
impressive as well. She won the first U.S. Tango championship in Tango Salon
in July 2007 with Eduardo Goytia making it to the finals competition at the
World championship in Buenos Aires. She has lived in BsAs this last year,
performing in many important tango venues, has been a member of the show
Tango Porteño, and in 2008-9, Cyrena performed with the world renowned
company Tango Pasion in Paris, Munich and Athens, and she also tours with
the company La Esquina de Carlos Gardel.  These are rare accomplishments for
a Norte Americana!

Since 2005 David Mateu, one of the up-and-coming stars of the Argentine
tango, has taught in many milongas of Buenos Aires (including Salón Canning,
la Catedral, el Torcuato Tasso, etc) as well as teaching in Greece, Ireland,
Costa Rica, Brasil, and the US. He has performed in Buenos Aires theatres,
in "El Bandoneón" in Athens.  David is currently part of the "Viaje al
Sentimiento" company, also performing regularly in the show "Beba Pugliese",
was a 2009 a finalist in the World Championship Tango Salon in Buenos Aires,
and impressively,  a finalist four years in a row in the Metropolitan
Championship of Tango Salon.
