3. ABOUT TOMAS HOWLIN
Tomas has taught in Pittsburgh many times and we are very honored to have him with us for this anniversary celebration. A native of Buenos Aires,
Tomas' dance is classic, fluid, and relaxed. Each of his movements is deeply inspired by the traditional aesthetic that has characterized the style and elegance of this dance for the past 60 years. Tomas believes in a natural, comfortable, thoughtful and skillful tango; one that is unique for each person. 4. ABOUT FLORENCIA TACCETTI
We are delighted to welcome Florencia back to Pittsburgh. Also a native of Buenos Aires, Florencia is a lifelong dancer with a strong foundation in
modern, contemporary, jazz, and ballet. In teaching, she focuses on intention and the subtle communication between partners. She specializes in
teaching quality of movement, projecting in space, and musicality. Florencia is an artist-in-residence in Minneapolis, where she performs as a modern dancer and teaches tango for the University of Minnesota Dance Program. She has danced and taught with Tomas for several years. More about Florencia at http://www.tejastango.com/florencia.html <http://www.tejastango.com/florencia.html>

5. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PITTSBURGH TANGUEROS
Tango began in Pittsburgh in the early 1990s with a small group of swing dancers. Early professional influences included the generous Danel and Maria, who drove from NYC to teach workshops for our small but enthusiastic community. Local dancers/teachers Eduardo Goytia and Linda Jeub saw to the formal incorporation of the Pittsburgh Tangueros in 1997 under the umbrella of the Coal Country Traditions Dance Group -- our ostensible excuse for the 10th anniversary. More at http://www.pittsburghtangueros.org

But we all know it's just a reason to have a big tango party. Today, Pittsburgh has an active, friendly, devoted, high-quality community, with
three organized teaching groups, four practicas, and at least one weekly milonga. Many dancers, teachers, and organizers have contributed to the development of Pittsburgh's tango community over the years -- too many to name, but you know who you are -- and we invite you all, near and far, to celebrate tango with us!
