Featuring Katie Viqueira – voice; Nando Michelin –piano, arrangements;
Fernando Huergo– bass; Bertram Lehmann – percussion and drums.

Directly from her native Buenos Aires, vocalist Katie Viqueira offers
a great night of Argentine music, featuring her latest blend of
jazz-inflected contemporary Tango, Candombe, Milonga and Chacarera.
Assisted by the trio of pianist/arranger Nando Michelin, Bass player,
Fernando Huergo, drummer Bertram Lehmann, and Tango dancers Gloria
Cepeda and Pepe Rojo from Argentina. Katie Viqueira in "Tierra Tango"
sets out to trace her musical roots "without sensationalism, without
fake emotionality, but with just the right amount of passion and
highly sophisticated arrangements" (Jazzpodium). Billed "a hot Tango
star" by the Boston Globe, Mrs. Viqueira has also received highest
critical accolades for her performance in the 2002 U.S. premiere of
Astor Piazolla's Tango-oratory "Pueblo Joven" at Town Hall, New York,
and her lead role in the nuevo tango master's legendary operetta
"Maria de Buenos Aires, featuring the Seattle Chamber Players around
the US and Moscow (Russia).

"Originality, that you don't fall upon too often. Yes, there's the
drama, mystery, tale and all else one would expect from the big
country in the most southern part of South America, but this time it's
different . . . pure fusion . . . world music that we all can come
home to and enjoy . . ." – JAZZ ZINE
