About the historian and researcher: Antón Gazenbeek is a world-renowned tango historian with many years of in depth research and investigation into the roots of tango dance, history, and culture. He has studied tango like a scientist and has traveled as far as Japan, Korea, and China to give one-of-a-kind lecture rich in historic value. He has presented lectures and shows based on the history and evolution of tango in many cities around the world including Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Seoul, New York City, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Boston, and many more. Anton has given lectures in Carnegie Mellon University, the Museum of Fine Arts of Houston and in the New York City Tango and Film. In October 2006 he was invited to coordinate the historical lectures in the World Tango Festival in Buenos Aires where he gave historical presentations together with María Nieves, Gloria and Eduardo, and other legendary tango dancers. He is owner of one of
the largest and rarest tango video collections in the world and has spent many, many years collecting all types of material related to tango. He has published numerous articles in online publications and magazines (such as El Tangauta and La Milonga Argentina, Explore Dance USA, and Tango Kultur Germany) and is internationally respected. He hopes to share his love and passion for tango through his lecturing work and ignite that same passion for tango in others.
