Greetings from The Tango House in Denver

The Tango House 3rd Annual Masquerade Milonga is THIS Saturday, October
28th, 8:30pm - 1am (probably later).
For those coming from out of town, try to arrive on Friday to catch the
Mercury Milonga, 10/27.

Some quick and important notes:
- We are not selling advance tickets this year. Tickets are $12 (the normal
TTH milonga price) at the door.
- Costumes are NOT required. Your costume can be extreme or subtle or your
"costume" can look pretty much as it does at any other milonga.
- We WILL have use of the small parking lot across the street in the
chain-link fence. Please reserve that lot for the ladies.
- Ruddy Zelaya will be our DJ.
- Middle Eastern Dance Performance by Tiffany, "Double Veils & Fire" will
occur about 11pm.
- We will select 3 (at least) winners for the costume contest! 1st prize =
100 TTH Dollars, 2nd = a private lesson, 3rd = Murano Hand-blown Glass from
Italy.
- The food and beverage selections will be a cut above this Saturday, even
by TTH standards. Take advantage of the tip bowls, or not as you see fit.
- TTH will be festooned for the Hallows Eve Season.
- Doors open at 8:30 and we will dance until 1am, but we will go later if
needed.

Above is the short list. There is lots more information below but now you
know the points of interest. Please call or write if you have any questions.

>From the first year The Tango House Annual Masquerade Milongas became one of
the Denver community's premier tango events. The heightened festive energy
of this happening, and the memories created live on for years. TTH milongas
are first and always about connecting with other humans. We share comradery,
friendship, love and support. Everyone is welcomed and everyone is
welcoming. To that we add top notch amenities to create one of the best
milongas anywhere on the globe. The Masquerade Milongas are no exception.
TTH offers great music mixed with a good ear, not a list of rules. The floor
is the softest I've ever danced on and has the PERFECT tactile quality for
tango. The sound system is clean and clear and the food is carefully
selected to be healthy, plentiful and delicious.

Halloween has always been special to me and with Gaia's help I try to bring
that nostalgic affection to every Masquerade Milonga.

Ruddy Zelaya is one of the best tango DJ to be found ANYWHERE. He has been
described to me by at least three Argentines as a "scholar of tango music".
But he doesn't let his thorough knowledge of the music get in his way.
Ultimately it is his artistic sense of pace that creates a wonderful ebb and
flow for our enjoyment. Tiffany comes highly recommended as a performance
artist with a foundation in Middle Eastern dance. She will appear at 11pm or
shortly there after. Her performance will not exceed 10 minutes so don't be
late for this special engagement. Our spread of high quality hors d'oeuvres
will be bigger than normal and offer things hot, cold, sweet and savory, and
our wide assortment of beverages will be wider still.

The word is out on The Tango House Masquerade Milongas and we expect this
year to be the biggest and best yet. Seating will be arranged to allow
plenty of room for extra dancers and the lights at TTH are always just
bright enough to allow the cabeceo ("the eye game") to ask for or accept
dances.

Again, a costume is not mandatory. Historically we have about 20% dancers
sans costume. For those who want to come in costume but have procrastinated,
here are some suggestions to find yours quickly. We have had good luck at
these establishments.

*Flossy McGrew's, 1824 S. Broadway, 303-778-0853. This is an institution for
costuming in Denver. The selection is gigantic with lots of novelties and
they rent full costumes.

*ArtsMyths, 802 Santa Fe Drive, #1. 720-989-7232,
http://www.artsmyths.com/index.html. They have a large assortment of
hand-made leather masks at very reasonable prices. Hours are basically 10am
to 7pm but they vary so you should call.

*The Crypt (for mature audiences), 8 Broadway (next to Blue Ice),
303-733-3112. The selection is a little limited but the quality is good and
the prices are low. Well made masks, accessories and some complete costumes.
No rentals.

*The Halloween Super Stores are big but the quality is not as good and the
prices are a little higher. They open just for Halloween and the locations
change so check the web.

We look forward to seeing you all this Saturday night for a truly memorable
Masquerade Milonga.
Please call or write with any questions.
With our best,
Chas & Gaia
