WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT
=========================

Fernanda Ghi and Guillermo Merlo are two of the top echelon
artistes in tango today. They were born in Argentina but
now live in the US.

Fernanda and Guillermo made their name as performers in the
"Forever Tango" broadway show, and consolidated that with
appearance in a 1999 Sony TV concert "Tango Magic". That
year they also won first place in a world tango championship
organised by IDO in Miami.

Since then, they have been in great demand in tango festivals
around the world, playing up to 30 cities each year. In
Asia, they were featured at Taipei Tango Festival in 2003
and this year, and have taught in Bali and Kuala Lumpur.
They also produce a touring stage production "Tango Dreams"
which sold-out in Japan for over two months. Their six-
volume instructional video is a consistent bestseller.

With these sterling credentials, they are role models for
aspiring dancers everywhere. Do not miss their workshop
if you want to take your dance one step beyond the social
realm into the artistic!

All Levels -
* Tango Foundation Concepts : recap of all the important basic
concepts e.g. connection, navigation, dynamics, etc.
* Men and Ladies' Techniques : discover exercises that help you
to move with grace and control. Men and women will take the
  class in separate groups.

Beginner to Intermediate -
* Milonga with Traspie : an introduction to the use of the
  traspie (triple-beat) in milongas.
* Musicality and Accent : learn how to improve your musicality
by playing with the accents of various orchestras.

Intermediate to Advanced - (please register in pairs!!)
* Creating your Story for the Stage : Do you know how to tell a
story with a dance? Let the maestros give you some ideas.
* Techniques for Jumps and Lifts : How to do lift and jumps
safely, and use them as highlight in your dance.

The objective of the last two workshops is not simply to train
stage dancers, but to raise the bar for competent social
dancers to prepare to dance for exhibitions. It is no longer
enough just to be able to execute technically challenging turns
-- an artist must communicate an idea through his body language.
G+F are masters in this domain and their insights are invaluable.

Private tuition can be arranged between 18-22/oct, call Helen

to check vacancy.

Meet the Maestros: They will be at Upper Club on Fri 20/oct
late night (10pm) for a social party and perform an exhibition
dance for their students, which is open to all so this is a
great opportunity to meet them before the workshop. They
will also show up at Ixidanza milonga on Sat 21/oct, but given
the space constraint it is not likely they can perform there.
