[StarCluster] problems when adding a node to the cluster

Dear all,

today I tried to add a spot instance node to a cluster with the following
command:

starcluster addnode -b 0.25 -I c3.4xlarge chemistrycluster

The first part of the output is as follows:

>>> Launching node(s): node003

>>> Creating placement group @sc-chemistrycluster...

SpotInstanceRequest:sir-9b8c5e4a

>>> Waiting for spot requests to propagate...

1/1 ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
100%

>>> Waiting for node(s) to come up... (updating every 30s)

>>> Waiting for open spot requests to become active...

2/3 |\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ | 66%

The program came relatively quickly to "Waiting for open spot requests to
become active...", but thereafter it did not progress for several hours. In
the end I had to cancel the program because I had to leave for the day.

What is causing the program to wait for open spot request to become active?
Is it because of the spot bid? Should I change the spot bid?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yours sincerely,

Torstein Fjermestad
