Hello everyone,

We had our fortnightly meeting last night.  Here are the minutes:

Members present: Tarun Agarwal, David Strozzi, Lynn Johnson, Devon Manz, 
Giovanni Talei Franzesi, Dugan Hayes, Shankar Mukerherji, Matt Brooks, and 
myself

Visitors: Yanelly Molina (Tufts) and Nicole (Babson College)

I.   Wrote Urgent Action letters for Mao Hengfeng, a woman imprisoned in China 
     for protesting forced abortion.  To take action please go to:

II.  Second Monthly Sudan Candlelight Vigil will be next Tuesday, 19 Oct
     8 pm. Student Center Steps.  (Might be switched to Lobby 10 so keep an
     eye out for an update e-mail.)

III. Yanelly (on behalf of American Anti-Slavery Group) told us about a
     candlelight vigil they are planning for Sudan.

     -Speakers will include Francis Bok (ex-Sudanese slave) and other members
      of AASG
     -Event will be 5 Nov in Boston Common (time yet to be announced).

IV.  First meeting of the MIT Chapter of DATA (data.org) will be next Wednesday,
     20 Oct 7 pm.  Room 4-253 (same room we meet in! :-)  Contact Devon Manz
     (manz at mit.edu) with any questions.

V.   ***Don't forget to register for the NE Regional Conference by 29 Oct 
     (deadline for pre-reg... and $10 less).  Conference will be 13-14 Nov
     at BU.
