*Biographies:*

*Nicole Liu* was born in Boston to a family of restauranteurs. Despite
attending NYU to pursue a career in broadcast television, her passion for
dining and adventure lead her back to the hospitality industry. Nicole's
inspiration for her first venture, VESTER Cafe, is inspired by her
international experiences and love of simple pleasures.

*Samira* was born and raised in San Francisco, California and the
surrounding East Bay Area. Her favorite weekends were spent with her mom
baking her amazing chocolate chip cookies. When she moved to Boston for
college in 2008, she spent every evening after classes and work baking and
cooking in her little studio in Allston. She decided to switch gears (as
most culinarians do), from Political Science and Law, and attended Le
Cordon Bleu in Cambridge for her Culinary Arts Degree. She then attended
The Art Institutes for her Pastry Arts Degree, focusing on French
patisserie and cake decorating, then moving onto Culinary Management as
well. She is proud to be a part of something that makes people so happy
every day and part of building the community in Boston! Working with such
passionate, talented, and good individuals to create something so special
is a dream come true and she looks forward to being a part of this Flour
Family for years to come!

*Do you enjoy attending on-campus activities and meeting other students?
Are you interested in diversity issues and/or the performing arts? *

An innovative new Arts and Education project, “Creating a Community for
Women Graduate Students in STEM,” led by MIT alums, pairs the work of an
NYC-based professional theatre company with a diversity workshop. This
project was launched in New York City in 2018, sponsored by the Alfred P.
Sloan Foundation.

We are seeking Student Outreach Specialists for phase two of the project,
which will take place on the MIT campus in April 2019, sponsored by the MIT
School of Science. This is fun and enjoyable opportunity for outgoing and
friendly students to foster an additional network of support for students
in the MIT community, especially with regard to diversity and inclusion.
Other key opportunities this work offers are: building an outreach profile
that is useful for future applications, such as NSF Postdoctoral
Fellowships; laying the groundwork for future programs that support women
students in STEM nationwide; interfacing with prominent leaders in
diversity and the performing arts. Students will work closely with our
team, based in NYC and Boston, to do outreach to student groups in person
and online.

Applicants must be current undergraduate or graduate students, friendly,
communication-savvy, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. STEM
majors or STEM grad students preferred. Part-time commitment of 10
hours/week starting immediately and continuing through April 19, 2019, with
possibility to extend. Hourly compensation is $15 an hour. All applicants
must submit a resume and a cover letter stating what especially interests
