Cool off the summer heat with some bubble tea and fine art with GW at MIT!

We’ll grab some Boba and tour the highlights of the museum, including works

Join GWAMIT for a lovely Saturday morning run along the Charles! We will
run approximately 3 miles and will make sure to run in groups or pairs to
accommodate all levels. Meet at the Alchemist Statue on Mass Ave (outside
the student center) for a quick stretch, please don’t be more than 5
minutes late! We will have a coffee in Flour after we finish.

tank in your 5th time!

GWAMIT’s Orientation Women’s Welcome Lunch during the first week of

How can MIT staff advance positive social change?

Community activists *Stefani Harvey *and *Fran Smith* will guide us through
a workshop to confront and transform systems of privilege at MIT and in our
daily lives. Join us!

Open to all MIT staff and faculty. Refreshments will be served. RSVP via
this Registration Form to help us order enough food.

Facilitator biographies:

*Stefani Harvey* is a community activist and educator who specializes in
social justice and equity in education, particularly in addressing
disparities for youth of color. As Roxbury native, Stefani has been a
leader and a firm believer in the advocacy of positive growth and
development in youth for over 15 years. Holding positions such as, Teacher,
Program Director, Dean of Students, Director of Family and Community
Engagement, and Safe and Welcoming Schools Specialist, Stefani has been
able to connect with audiences through motivational speaking, youth
conferences, and her relentless work and support with LGBTQ self-identified
youth. Stefani holds a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, a Masters
Degree in Urban Education and Leadership, a K-6 Principal License, and is
currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education.

*Fran Smith *is a community organizer, a nonprofit manager and a
facilitative leader for racial justice. She began her work as a pro school
desegregation student organizer in the 70’s in Boston. Since that time she
has worked in the nonprofit and public sector. During the 80’s she lead
community based youth development projects using media, popular culture,
and peer leadership development to help youth identify and navigate racism
and gain skills that enabled them to achieve their aspirations. In the 90’s
Fran worked on local and national education reform projects promoting
equity, excellence and parent involvement in urban school districts. For
the last decade she has worked as a resource development specialist and
coordinated two city wide educational initiatives. Fran was awarded a
Community Fellowship from Tufts University where she obtained her Master of
Public Policy. Currently she is an organizer with Community Change, Inc.
started 50 years ago to address “the White problem”. She is committed to
helping white people decolonize their hearts and minds from white supremacy.

*6. Choosing Quality Child Care (July 11)*

Presented by Kathy Kasabula, B.A.; Child Care Operations Administrator, MIT
Work-Life Center.

This introductory discussion is specially designed for expectant parents
and those new to parenting or child care. The session addresses your
different infant and toddler child care options, what child care costs, how
to find and evaluate your child care choices, planning your parental leave,
and the transition to parenting.

Infants are welcome if alternative child care is unavailable.

*7. Cerebral Cinema: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (July 10)*

Join us for the second part in our Cerebral Cinema series, where you'll
hear from researchers and then compare real science to depictions on the
big screen.

On July 10: Relationships can be messy, difficult... and traumatic? Hear
from Dr. Asaf Marco, a postdoctoral researcher in Professor Li-Huei Tsai’s
group at MIT, about his research on removing traumatic memories.

This event is presented in conjunction with *The Beautiful Brain: The
Drawings of Santiago Ramón y Cajal. *

guidance on integrating Zotero or Mendeley into your workflow? Do you keep
running into issues with your citations or your .bib files? If you have a
working knowledge of LaTeX and are looking to optimize how you manage
citations and integrate your favorite citation management tools like
Zotero, Mendeley or JabRef, this is the workshop for you! We'll also cover
how to integrate with Overleaf.
