Join AMITA and GWAMIT to see the award-winning national hit play, “*Truth
Values: One Girl’s Romp Through M.I.T.’s Male Math Maze*.” *Created by
M.I.T. alumna Gioia De Cari,* and called “hilarious” by WIRED, the play is
also a serious exploration of the world of elite mathematics and the
challenges women face in the STEM environment.

“Truth Values” has been presented at more than 50 different theaters and
performing arts centers throughout the U.S., including sold-out shows at
the La Jolla Playhouse Potiker Theatre, The Annenberg Center for the
Performing Arts, Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York, and USC’s lauded
Visions and Voices Arts and Humanities Series, among many others. M.I.T.
presented the play as part of the institute’s 150th-anniversary
celebration. For more information, visit truthvaluesplay.com

*THEME*:* I never thought I would...*

After a great launch event during the summer, we’re delighted to bring back
the Storytelling Lunch series in September! This is an opportunity for
friends and colleagues to share their stories of the time they moved out of
their comfort zone. When did you do something and surprise yourself? Asked
for a raise, asked for a date, climbed a mountain, made it to class on
time, missed a deadline, took the wheel. Join us as we share stories about
a step into the unknown, a leap of faith and forging new paths. Prepare a
short story to tell, or just come to listen. All are welcome.

*Lunch will be provided*. We hope you will be able to join us. If you are
able to attend, please remail Shauna Bush-Fenty (sfenty at mit.edu) with any
dietary restrictions, accessibility considerations or other needs.
*Sexual Misconduct Prevention event details*

*4. Talk on Sexual Harassment of Women *

*When: *Tuesday, September 18. 3PM
*Where:* 10-250
*Web:* link <http://www.rle.mit.edu/anita-hill/upcoming-events/>

President Reif will welcome Institute Professor Sheila Widnall, Wellesley
College President Paula Johnson, and MIT Research Affiliate Anita Hill for *a
conversation about the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and
Medicine’s recent report: Sexual Harassment of Women: Climate, Culture, and
Consequences in Academic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine*. You can read
more about the report here
<http://www8.nationalacademies.org/onpinews/newsitem.aspx?RecordID=24994>.

Sheila and Paula co-chaired the group that developed the report, and they
will detail the report’s findings and recommendations before Anita
moderates a panel discussion featuring Q&A with the audience. I think this
conversation will be informative, thought-provoking and, with strong
attendance and participation, will show how seriously the entire MIT
community takes these issues and how committed we are to finding solutions.
