*1. GW at MIT and Women in Chemistry: Informal Coffee Hour with 3M*

*When: *Wednesday, August 15, 3-4pm
*Where:* Room 56-114
*RSVP: *here <https://goo.gl/forms/qcOsFv6tf5hrftel1>
Please let us know if you're coming so we can order enough coffee and
snacks!

3M research scientists, Kolby White who graduated from the Movassaghi group
(MIT Chemistry) 2 years ago as well as David Hays (MIT Chemistry) who was
one of Greg Fu’s first graduate students, will be joining us.

This will be an informal gathering to ask questions about their experiences
at 3M, the transition from graduate student to employee, what it is like to
interview, or if they miss MIT. Come with questions, even if you aren't in
the job market yet!

Also, 3M is looking to hire across a variety of disciplines including
MechE, EE, ChemE, Materials, Chemistry, BE, Bio, Computer Science, Data
Analytics, AerospaceE, etc. - so if you are in the job market (or are
planning to be soon), this is a great opportunity to get some insight about
working at 3M!

International Fellowships are awarded for full-time study or research in
the United States to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent
residents. Both graduate and postgraduate studies at accredited U.S.
institutions are supported.

Applicants must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree by
November 15, 2018, and must have applied to their proposed institutions of
study by the time of the application. Up to five International
Master’s/First Professional Degree Fellowships are renewable for a second
year; fellows will receive application information for this competitive
program.

Recipients are selected for academic achievement and demonstrated
commitment to women and girls. Recipients return to their home countries to
become leaders in business, government, academia, community activism, the
arts, and sciences.

Originally designed to provide Latin American women opportunities for
graduate and postgraduate study in the U.S., the International Fellowships
program awarded its first fellowship in 1917. The program now includes
women from around the world, and International Fellowships have been
awarded to more than 3,600 women from more than 150 nations.
