*4. **[Postdoctoral Associate] Yoga Class Series *

*When:* Wednesdays, June 15th - June 29th, 7:30pm

*Where:* MIT Building 37 or building 16

Postdoctoral Associate is conducting yoga class series regularly and the
next one is starting on April 27. This will be taking place on Wednesdays,
at 7:30 pm on campus (building 37 or building 16). A rate for postdocs and
their MIT Spouses & Partners is offered for a 10 class session for $80.
This is a gentle all-level relaxing yoga class and no prior experience is
required.

The classes will take place on the following dates:

June 15, June 22, June 29

The Iridium Story, book talk. Join author John Bloom and Iridium
co-inventor Ray Leopold as they delve into the story of the only satellite
phone that links every inch of the planet.

*Microbial Conversations *

*When*: Saturday, June 18th, 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Co-sponsored by the American Society for Microbiology in town for ASM
Microbe2016, this evening follows the Museum's popular format of short
talks, refreshments, and conversation.

This summer we will hold as many classes outside as the weather allows.
Drawing outdoors will teach students to observe and capture the life and
motion of the MIT campus and the city.

Each students’ skill set will grow through a variety of drawing techniques
and exercises. An assortment of materials will be used including pencil
(graphite), charcoal, oil pastel, conte crayon, ink and a collection of
papers. Students will be encouraged to keep a small sketchbook outside of
class, to support the skills learned during studio time.

This is the start of your ceramic journey! Learn the basics of wheel
throwing and hand-building while getting introduced/acclimated to our
community studio. Through a variety of weekly demonstrations you will see
your ceramic foundation strengthen before your eyes.

A mentoring circle is a group of individuals that meet together on a
regular basis for an agreed upon length of time. The group’s primary
purpose is to help mentees accomplish two tasks:

- Set important development goals

- Build competence and character to reach those goals

This year, the MASS AWIS mentoring circle program will be entering its 10th
year! We have built a community of over 300 women who are setting career
goals, learning critical skills and strengthening their network. The
various groups exchange experiences, challenges, and opportunities for the
purpose of enhancing self-confidence, communication skills, leadership
practices, and commitment to one’s career.

Fee: Mentors, Free; Mentees, $25

MASS AWIS has created a scholarship fund to help offset the cost of
membership.

If awarded a scholarship, MASS AWIS will supplement 80% of the National
membership and 50% of the Chapter membership (and provide help with event
costs).

Scholarship is for qualified unemployed or underemployed individuals
seeking Professional, Junior or Student memberships.

*Graduate Students/Post-Doctoral Fellows and those in transition are
encouraged to apply.*

The courtyard of the Central Library in Copley Square, one of Boston's most
beautiful spaces, is filled with music during free, one-hour concerts
throughout the summer. The courtyard hosts music that ranges from jazz to
classical and from world to folk. Concerts are moved indoors in the event
of inclement weather.

Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m.; Fridays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
