CIS Starr Forum is a public events series on pressing issues in
international affairs, sponsored by the MIT Center for International
Studies.

Based on the international bestselling novel by Patricia McCormick, and
inspired by true accounts, SOLD tells the story of 13 year-old Lakshmi, who
is trafficked from her peaceful, rural village in Nepal to work in a
brothel called Happiness House in Kolkata, India. Through one extraordinary
girl's story, SOLD gives voice to the millions of children around the world
who disappear every year. Globally the average age of a trafficked girl is
thirteen, the same age as Lakshmi in the film.

SOLD is a call to action, and a testament to the power and resilience of
the human spirit.

Q&A immediately following after the film with the Director/Co-Writer,
Jeffrey D. Brown via Skype.
