1. Focus Groups on Cheney Room
When: March 10th-21st
Where: Margaret Cheney Room room 3-310

The Division for Student Life is looking for feedback on the Margaret Cheney Room (a women's only space in room 3-310) as well as women's experiences here at MIT.  There will be focus groups for graduate women as well as undergraduate women throughout the next two weeks, beginning the week of March 10th. Pizza and drinks available!

2. Facing up to Difficult Diseases
When: Monday, March 11th, 6-7:30pm
Where: MIT Museum

Inside Cambridge Biotechnology is a new series of events that will allow you meet leaders from new and established Cambridge biotechnologies, and learn about the focus and potential impacts of their company’s research. In this talk, Dr. Scangos , CEO of Biogen IDEC ,will speak about the impact drug company research may have on difficult-to-cure diseases.

Entrance is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors.

3. The Art and Science of Solar Lights with Olafur Eliasson
When: Friday, March 14th, 5-8pm
Where: MIT Museum

Explore the beauty, function, and potential of solar lights in this evening program of discussions with MIT scientists and artist Olafur Eliasson, recipient of the 2014 MIT McDermott Award.

The event is presented in collaboration with the MIT Center for Arts, Science, and Technology.

4. Ice Hockey Clinic

Wish you had a little more ice time to practice, and some tips to develop your skills? Looking for some specialized goalie training with our specialized goalie coach? Here's your opportunity to get world-class coaching and some extra ice time. You will do drills to work on basic skills, team play, and develop game situational awareness

The event is meant for beginner and intermediate hockey players looking to improve their skills with top-notch coaches and get some extra ice time.

The cost is $20/person or 2 for $30 (either bring a friend and pay together or pay for both sessions at the first clinic).

5. MIT Hacking Medicine's Healthcare's Grand Hackfest

The Kauffman Foundation in collaboration with MIT H at cking Medicine will be kicking off THE Hackathon of all hackathons in healthcare this March!

This event is focused on pioneering healthcare’s greatest innovations. We will be partnering with industry’s leading organizations to accelerate breakthrough ideas. The event will have varied tracks (diabetes, Hospital IT, telehealth, resource-constrained setting) focused around healthcare’s toughest pain points.

Event open to students, entrepreneurs, designers, engineers, and healthcare professionals.

6. Cloth Pad Sewing Workshop
When: Saturday, March 15th, 1-4pm
Where: East Campus - Talbot Lounge

Stop by to sew your own reusable cloth pads, make heating pads, and learn more about different menstrual product options that may be friendlier to the environment, your body, and your wallet!

People of all genders, ages, and affiliation are welcome!

7. [MIT SWE] Volunteer at Science Saturdays

Science Saturdays is a weekend program designed to bring fun science activities and demonstrations to libraries throughout Boston. From building electric motors to holding miniature "crime scene" investigations, Science Saturdays accommodates a wide range of topics through lots of science fun.

Organized in a booth-style, students are welcome to explore any of the activity booths and find out what is most interesting to them. Young scientists are able to discover the wonders of science in an informal setting that is fun and educational!

9. Cambridge Science Festival @MIT museum

Throughout the Cambridge Science Festival, the MIT Museum in collaboration with the City of Cambridge, community organizations, schools, universities, and businesses. hosts a range of performances, discussions, and workshops and activities.  Some of the events will focus on Space Day, Printing 3D Ships, Science You Can Eat!

Admission throughout the festival is $10.00/adult and $5.00/youth, students, and seniors.

The 2014 weSTEM conference will contain two keynote lectures, dual-track session talks, break-out discussion forums, and social networking sessions. The event is open to female graduate students around the country.

Financial support to attend weSTEM 2014 will be offered to up to 20 students. Funding decisions will be made based on the application for attendance, available at http://bit.ly/1fiMNGQ.

All students (undergraduate and graduate) in STEM programs are invited to apply.

12. [MASS AWIS] Alternative Careers in Science - Speed Networking Event
When: Tuesday, April 22nd, 6-9pm
Where: BU School of Medicine, Hiebert Lounge, 72 East Concord St, Boston

This event is for men and women within the scientific community (from undergrads to early career levels) who are interested in exploring diverse career options in science.
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with 10-15 experienced individuals who will give insight into their chosen professions. The event will be held in a speed-networking fashion with participants switching tables every 15 minutes for a total of 5 sessions. Please, note this is not a career fair.

The main career areas will be consulting, patent law, research & development, technology transfer, publishing/medical writing, academia, business development, competitive intelligence, teaching, medical science liaison, sales and human resources.

General Admission $30, MASS AWIS members $15.
