1. Free film screening: Pretty Faces: the story of a skier girl

“Pretty Faces is an all female ski film featuring the  best athletes from the world in celebration of playing outside, pushing the sport of skiing and living up to our fullest potential as a supportive community. Inspired by the desire to offer young girls role models and inspiration to play outside, this film aims to capture all the girl stoke from the pioneers who have paved the way to the 'never-evers' who will continue to define what it means to ski like a girl."

2. GWAMIT Mentoring Program: Social Mixer and Dinner!
When: December 8th at 5:30 pm
Where: 32-144, MIT

Anxious about the end of the semester? Looking to reconnect with your mentoring group? Join WUGM and GWAMIT on Monday, December 8th at 5:30 pm in 32-144 for a social mixer and dinner! Check in with your mentoring group, meet with members of the other groups, and enjoy awesome food with the members of GWAMIT. The event will be an informal mentoring session focused mainly on giving you a chance to relax, socialize, and connect with some interesting people! Hope to see you there.

3. GWAMIT Christmas Social

The semester is about to finish and we would like to celebrate with you hall before final week begins. Join us on Wednesday December 10th at the Meadhall in Kendall. Food and drinks will be served!

7. Workshop: Stop Worrying About Your Career and Start Working on It

The Work-Life Center—in collaboration with MIT Global Education & Career Development, the MIT Office of the Vice President for Research, and MIT Millennials ERG—is pleased to present the third evening seminar for MIT young professionals, which will wrap up the fall 2014 series.

On Wednesday, December 3rd, Jim McGovern, corporate and career communications consultant, will present, “Stop Worrying About Your Career and Start Working on It.” During this interactive workshop, young professionals will learn how to maximize their career opportunities by developing concrete skills, including crafting a compelling personal narrative and building a personal brand.

Light fare will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. in room 76-158 (The David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research); the workshop will be held from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. in room 76-156.

This seminar is free of charge and open to the entire MIT community and their families; however, registration is required.

8. Help Organizing a Global Network of Celebration Events for Anita Borg's Birthday!

On the week of January 17th, the Global Anita Borg Community, powered by Google, is organizing a Global network of celebration events for Anita Borg's birthday - i.e. celebrating the mission to have a 50/50 representation of women in computing by 2020.

We are planning to have a full-day event at MIT on January 16, where middleschool and highschool students from different schools around Boston will come visit MIT, tour some labs, and hear some presentations. The school groups will have schedules for the day whereby they will stop by in different places for different activities.

This is a call for volunteers to participate in this event.
- If you have at least 1 hour you can contribute on Friday, January 16, and would like to either give a presentation, lab tour, or demonstration to some middleschool and highschool students
OR
- If you would like to help in the organization of this event, or help with logistics on the day of the event

9. Beyond Balance: Women’s Challenges and Choices in the 21st Century
When: December 3, 6:00-8:00 pm
Where: Science Center Hall D, Harvard Yard, Cambridge, MA

Join the Alumnae-i Network for Harvard Women and the Harvard Alumni Association for an evening exploring the complex array of challenges and choices that face women today. The distinguished cross-disciplinary faculty panel will present and discuss new research and ongoing concerns about the role of women in leadership positions, in media coverage, and at home. At a time when the perennial question seems to be “Can Women Have it All?” the discussion will address how “balance” is distracting us from core concerns, and offer individual ways of handling discrimination in the workplace. A light reception will follow the program.

Insight Programs
Our exciting 3-day summer programs will give non-MBA advanced degree students an insider's look into management consulting, covering a range of topics important to those who are exploring alternative career possibilities.  The program agenda includes an overview of management consulting, an introduction to the type of work we do, a management consulting case study, and an opportunity to network with colleagues and participate in social activities.
Eligibility:  Open to Ph.D. students, postdocs finishing in 2016 and medical students, interns, residents and fellows completing their program in 2016 or 2017

McKinsey APD Women's Leadership Challenge
