Hello GWAMIT Members,

Please draw your attention to two upcoming Women's events at MIT being sponsored by GWAMIT Collaborators:

Celebrating Women at MIT
The Office of the Dean for Graduate Education is Celebrating the Graduate Women of MIT this spring!
We would love for you to get involved in a variety of ways.
Nominate an outstanding Graduate Woman: we’re asking graduate women to nominate their outstanding peers who are making a difference in the work that they do (and perhaps furthering the future of graduate women by breaking new ground)! vote here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2NMJ8KP

Join the planning committee: help us organize the exhibit, manage nominations for excellent Graduate Women, and install the exhibit

Help design the display: we’re looking for talented visual and a/v women to help with the design of the posters and video components of the display
If you would like to join the committee or are interested in working on the visual display, please send an email to lputman at mit.edu . If you want to nominate an outstanding graduate woman, please vote here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2NMJ8KP

Women's Self-Defense Course
The MIT Police is offering a Rape Aggression Defense Course this IAP!
(dates and times with registration information attached)
This Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Course, being offered by the MIT Police, is a hands on self defense course where you learn about dependency on yourself, awareness, risk reduction, recognition, and avoidance of a crime risk. You will be given the mental and physical "tools" to defend yourself if necessary. This course is 12 hours, attendance at all sessions is mandatory and there is a $20 fee to cover class materials. There are no physical requirements for this course! Once you have completed this course you can always return and refresh your skills at /no/ additional charge, whether here at MIT or anywhere else in the world that the RAD course is offered - it is RAD's commitment to keep you aware and confident.

All the best wishes for a Happy Holiday to each of you.

Best regards,
Kay
(on behalf of GWAMIT Exec)
