Good morning,
On April 8, Microsoft announced the release of Update KB2919355<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355/en-us> for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 (Windows 8.1 Update) and made it available for download. This is a cumulative update for Windows 8.1 that includes a variety of enhancements for enterprises, including improved IE 11 compatibility for enterprise applications, usability improvements, extended mobile device management and improved hardware support. It also becomes the new servicing baseline for Windows 8.1, so next month's security update (on May 13, the next "patch Tuesday") will be dependent on Windows 8.1 Update.
To learn more about Windows 8.1 Update, visit the What's new in Windows 8.1 Update and Windows RT 8.1 Update?<http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/whats-new> page and read the Microsoft KB 2919355 article<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355/en-us>.
IS&T Recommendation
IS&T is currently testing Windows 8.1 Update and will make it available to Windows 8.1 users subscribed to the MIT Windows Automatic Update Service (WAUS)<http://ist.mit.edu/services/os/windows/updates> once testing is complete. If you are not using WAUS, IS&T recommends subscribing to it to ensure a smooth update experience for your Windows 8.1 system.
We would appreciate hearing about your experiences with Windows 8.1 Update and whether you encounter any issues with it on systems you use for MIT business and learning. Please send test results and/or feedback to windows8-release at mit.edu<mailto:windows8-release at mit.edu>.
