[WinPartners] McAfee VirusScan 8.8 Patch 1 Release

Good Afternoon,

Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is pleased to announce the release of McAfee VirusScan 8.8 Patch 1 (VS 8.8 Patch 1) for Windows. This patch improves the speed of malware scanning and reduces the software's impact on system resources.

McAfee considers this release to be a mandatory update for all environments. Mandatory patches and hotfixes resolve vulnerabilities that may affect product functionality or compromise computer security. These updates should be applied to maintain a viable and supported instance of VirusScan. Failure to apply mandatory updates could result in a security breach.
Who Needs to Apply VS 8.8 Patch 1
All users of VS 8.8, with the exception of win.mit.edu domain users, should download and apply this patch; it is not installed via McAfee's auto update mechanism.
How to Obtain
VirusScan 8.8 Patch 1 can be downloaded from IS&T's downloads website<https://web.mit.edu/software/mit/win/VSE880P1.zip> (certificates required<http://ist.mit.edu/services/certificates>).
