Good Afternoon,
Mozilla has announced the release of Firefox 4. This version of the popular web browser is available for download from Mozilla for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux machines.
IS&T Recommendation for Users
IS&T strongly recommends that users WAIT to install Firefox 4 while IS&T completes final testing and provides recommended settings. The release project will be completed by the end of April 2011.
IS&T Recommendations for IT Staff in DLCs
IS&T strongly recommends that staff in departments, laboratories and centers (DLCs) who maintain web applications test their web sites, extensions, and applications to make sure they are compatible with Firefox 4. IS&T will work with you to find appropriate solutions if you run into problems. Please contact the Firefox Release Team at firefox-release at mit.edu<mailto:firefox-release at mit.edu> for assistance and to share your findings.
If you determine that your environment is not ready for Firefox 4 deployment, you can continue to use the IS&T-supported version of Firefox 3.x. Should you need to revert to an older version of Firefox, Mozilla
offers the installers for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
We would appreciate hearing about your experiences with Firefox 4 and whether you encountered any issues with web sites, particularly those you use for MIT business and learning. Please send any test results and/or feedback to firefox-release at mit.edu<mailto:firefox-release at mit.edu>.
Regards,
Dave Conlon
