Good morning,
Information Services and Technology (IS&T) announced support for Microsoft Office 2010 for Windows in February 2011 and rolled out a plan to retire Office 2003 by the end of June 2011. As of July 1, 2011, IS&T will no longer support Office 2003.
IS&T recommends that Windows users upgrade to Office 2010 from existing installations of Office 2003 and 2007 for better performance, integration, and compatibility. IS&T will continue to support Office 2007.
There is a learning curve for users moving from Office 2003 to Office 2010. To gain familiarity with Office 2010, IS&T recommends that Office 2003 users take the one-hour tutorial, Migrating from Word 2003 to Word 2010<http://www.lynda.com/Word-2003-tutorials/migrating-from-to-word-2010/69783-2.html>, on lynda.com<http://Lynda.com/>. IS&T provides MIT community members with free access to lynda.com<http://lynda.com/>, a comprehensive library of software training videos. To access this resource, go to http://<http://lynda.mit.edu>lynda.mit.edu<http://lynda.mit.edu/> and log in using your certificate or Kerberos username and password.
How to Obtain Office 2010
MIT offers Microsoft Office 2010 through the Microsoft Campus Agreement at no direct cost to departments, for faculty and staff use. To learn more about MSCA policies, see the Microsoft Campus Agreement: Overview page<http://ist.mit.edu/services/software/msca/overview#students>.
You can download Office 2010 from the Office 2010 at MIT page<http://ist.mit.edu/services/software/office/2010>. To install Office 2010, first unzip the contents of the office2010.zip file into a separate folder and then run the setup-MIT.cmd.
