Good Morning,
Information Services and Technology (IS&T) is now supporting Internet Explorer 8 (IE8), and is delivering IE8 to machines subscribed to the MIT Windows Automatic Update Service<http://ist.mit.edu/services/os/windows/updates>.
In order to use IE8 for ECAT purchasing and SAPweb, you must download and run the Certificate Installer Tool 1.0.3 for Internet Explorer<http://ist.mit.edu/services/software/certificatetool/windows> to change your IE8 settings and add SAPweb to Internet Explorer's list of trusted sites. If the tool is not run, you may see a cross-site scripting error for ECAT purchasing and multiple prompts to select your certificate when displaying a requisition in SAPweb. Win.mit.edu<http://Win.mit.edu> domain users do not need to run the Certificate Installer Tool.
Additionally, a security warning will be displayed in IE8 for ECAT vendor sites: "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely? This webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection, which could compromise the security of the entire webpage." For the ECAT vendor sites, you can safely select "No" to this warning. For more information, see Known Issues for Internet Explorer 8<http://ist.mit.edu/services/software/ie/8x/knownissues>. Win.mit.edu<http://Win.mit.edu> users will not see the security warning.
For assistance, or if you have questions regarding this issue, contact the IS&T Computing Help Desk, at 617.253.1101 or computing-help at mit.edu<mailto:computing-help at mit.edu>.
