[WinPartners] Cisco VPN 5.0.03 for Windows release announcement

Information Services and Technology (IS&T) is pleased to announce the
release and support for Cisco VPN client 5.0.03 for 32-bit Windows Vista and
Windows XP.


Who should install Cisco VPN Client 5.0.03
------------------------------------------

Members of the MIT community who previously downloaded Vista Enterprise from
MIT need the Cisco Virtual Private Network (VPN) client before they can
activate their off-campus Vista machines. 

Also, off-campus users of some services restricted to MIT usage, such as the
Student Matlab Service, need to have the VPN installed in order to access
those services. 

Cisco VPN client 5.0.03 is fully compatible with 32-bit Windows Vista and
Windows XP and resolves certain issues found in the current version, Cisco
VPN client 4.8.

Cisco VPN client 4.8 will continue to work under Windows XP and Windows
Vista. Therefore, current users of Cisco VPN client 4.8 do not need to rush
to upgrade to Cisco VPN client 5.0.03 at this time if not experiencing any
problems.


Known issues
------------------------------------------

IS&T recommends that users uninstall Cisco VPN 4.8 before installing version
5.0.03 manually by using:

* "Control Panel --> Add/Remove program" under Windows XP
* "Control Panel --> Programs Feature" under Vista. 

Uninstalling Cisco VPN client 4.8 involves rebooting the system at least
once; in some cases it requires two reboots.  During the installation
process, the component of Cisco VPN 5.0.03 called Deterministic Network
Enhancer (DNE) could take additional time to install. The time needed to
complete installation will be based on your system hardware. 

Do not attempt to abort the installation process.

Cisco VPN 5.0.03 is not compatible with 64-bit Windows Vista or Windows XP.
