David,
I did see this a year or so ago. I ending up doing a hard bios reset. Some
strange key combination I was given from Dell to do on boot and then the
system was OK.

Subject: [WinPartners] IDE turns SCSI ?

I have a user who has a video PC (for editing). The boot drive it came with
is SATA. I left this alone and added an (PATA)IDE Drive. It showed up in
Disk Management, and I formatted it successfully and viewed it.

Some time later (a week), it has disappeared. It is gone from Disk
Management and My Computer. It is listed in Device Manager as a SCSI drive.
I have not looked in BIOS yet, because the computer is crunching video.

Anyone ever seen an IDE go SCSI? I have always kind of wished my cat was a
Labrador retriever. Maybe he's like swimming better.
