Hello,
I'm trying to trouble shoot a python (2.5) install on an xp machine.
The program installs fine and runs from a couple accounts on the machine
but the main account it needs to run on (which does have admin permissions).
In particular, IDLE does not launch. It just fails w/o any complaint.
I've done multiple remove/reinstalls and registry cleanings and the
problem does not seem to be a permissions issue as we can launch IDLE
from other users on the same machine without problem.
Is there some kind of "environ" type setting that perhaps has been set
(via other installs?) on this users account that's preventing launch?
I'm thinking like the paths in .configs in unix/linux shells?
Or... are there by user firewall specific items? I ask this since some
of the reading I've done on this problem suggest firewalls as having an
impact on IDLE launching.
Basically I'm calling out to anyone with Python on windows experience
for some tips/techniques on where to dig deeper to solve this issue!
:-)
THANKS!
Aran
