Good Afternoon,

Information Services & Technology (IS&T) would like to notify our customers
about a recently discovered issue with Excel Analysis ToolPak in Microsoft
Office 2007. Analysis ToolPak is an add-on to Excel 2007 and is not
installed by default. This issue affects only users of this add-on. It does
not affect other functionality of Excel 2007 or Microsoft Office 2007.

The University of Michigan School of Business reported a serious problem
with Excel 2007 Analysis ToolPak. They discovered that "Regression
functionality in the Analysis Toolpak for Excel 2007 does not chart data
correctly." This functionality is used in their core MBA courses covering
statistics.

IS&T received a confirmation from Microsoft that there is a bug in Excel
2007 Analysis ToolPak and they are working on a hotfix. The timeline for a
hotfix is not yet known. We have an open ticket with Microsoft and are
working on getting updated information on this issue. We will notify the MIT
community when there is a fix to this problem. Stay tuned for future
announcements.

Special thanks to our colleague, Armand Doucette, of the Sloan School for
sharing this information with us.
