Hi,

I am sharing this because I haven't seen it mentioned here at MIT.
Apparently there is an issue with Vista where any sound activity throttles
the network down to around 10% of capacity.  It doesn't matter what sound -
music, theme sounds, etc.  From what I've read it's due to settings in the
Multimedia Class Scheduler Service.

I've noticed this throttling down of the NIC when I am backing up.
