To all WinPartners:
We hope you will start your autumn off by joining us on Monday, September
25th, from Noon to 1pm at the N42 Demo Center.
We will have two speakers from IS&T's Software Release Team as our guests:
Alex Kozlov, the Windows Platform Coordinator, will bring us up to date on
the Vista Release Project and internal testing results. [Release Candidate 1
became available from Microsoft earlier this month.]
Bill Cattey, the Linux Platform Coordinator, will lead a discussion on
OpenAFS for windows:
AFS has been the MIT Enterprise Filesystem for Athena and other Unix/Linux
platforms for some time. Windows users of the win.mit.edu domain have also
had AFS. MIT Software Release is considering offering support for OpenAFS
for windows for systems that are not part of the win.mit.edu domain.
The purpose of this discussion will be to learn what WinPartners thinks is
the best way forward:
How much value is there to supporting OpenAFS for non win.mit.edu
systems?
Is there some other approach that would be better?
What are sensible long and short term strategies to pursue?
Thanks in advance for your participation and feedback. We look forward to
seeing you on Monday!
Paul
