[WinPartners] help request: conflict of Thunderbird on IBM Thinkpad running WinXP

I know that Thunderbird is not supported by IS&T, so I'm sending email 
here to appeal to anyone who can offer some help. I seemto never be able 
to keep Thunderbird running (it constantly hangs up) on my laptop which 
is running winXP. Has anyone had any experience with this?  If so, can 
you offer any insight?
