[WinPartners] IS&T response to Dell Battery Recall

To the MIT Community:

Today, Dell announced a recall on batteries that were shipped with  
approximately 14% of Dell Laptops from 2004 to 2006.  The full text  
of the Dell press release is attached in a Microsoft Word document.

IS&T has been in touch with our Dell representative and has received  
a list of all machines purchased through the Administrative Desktop  
Renewal Program or via GovConnection during that time that may  
potentially have the batteries under recall.  We will contact owners  
of the affected machines and facilitate the exchange of the suspect  
batteries within the next several days.

IS&T will share further information on the exchange process in the  
next two days once we have coordinated with Dell Computer.

If you have purchased a Dell laptop and suspect you may not be on the  
list of affected machines, you can also check by going to http:// 
www.dellbatteryprogram.com.
