(Apologies in advance for Mailman duplicates)

I'm looking for a Seagate Barracuda 18 XL (ST318416N) or similar hard drive *in
working order* to help someone attempt data recovery from a failed drive--it's
got relatively important data on it, but not so valuable as to justify
professional recovery services, however she'd still like to try.

Since the drive mechanism appears OK and the errors indicate an electronics
issue, I intend to try the old, limited success swap-the-controller-board
method (as we've discussed this here before, I don't recommend this to anyone,
but I do know what I'm doing, so no warnings necessary).

According to Seagete, any of the models listed under the Barracuda 18XL family
(see http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/specs/family_barracuda.html ) ought to
be compatible. These are:

ST318416N -exact match-
ST318416W -exact match-
ST318426LC
ST318426LW
ST318436LC
ST318436LCV
ST318436LW
ST318436LWV
ST39216N
ST39216W
ST39226LC
ST39226LW
ST39236LC
ST39236LCV
ST39236LW
ST39236LWV

eBay is turning up empty right now and any vendors who have one in stock charge
far more than what professional recovery cost. If you've got one, we'd be happy
to offer a resonable price for it.

Thanks,
Kerem
