*POSITION SUMMARY: *
The Stage Manager will assist in the execution of production planning as
developed by the Production Manager. The Stage Manager shall coordinate and
assign all running crew needs for shows assigned to, and train and
supervise all run crews for said shows. Stage Manager shall collect and
disseminate production information, supervise all “on stage” activities for
shows assigned to, and ensure that all post-production needs are met
including evaluations. Stage Manager shall call 5 shows assigned.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
· Assists with the scheduling, coordinating and recording
information from production meetings.
· Attends all production meetings as scheduled with Production
Manager.
· Shares in duties with other SM and Production Manager for room
reservations utilizing BCB scheduling software.
· Assists in recruiting all student Assistant Stage Managers and
assigning staff Assistant Stage Managers and trains as necessary. This
training may include a SM “boot camp” or other training day session.
· Calls for all rehearsal schedules for shows assigned to, checks
them for coordination and thoroughness, and acts upon any discrepancies
noted. Notifies cast, crew and production team of changes and distributes
pertinent information.
· Meets twice a week with Dance Rehearsal Directors for dance
concerts assigned to and prepares rehearsal reports including casting and
injury updates.
· Creates prompt books, executes cue sheets, and production check
lists for shows assigned to. May assist with paperwork on other shows as
well.
· Ensures that rehearsal and/or performance reports are published
and distributed in a timely manner.
· Coordinates rehearsal coverage with Production Manager and other
Stage Manager for all main stage productions. May fill in for rehearsals of
main stage shows until assigned SM returns from calling another show.
· Assists in the Coordination and scheduling of special
rehearsals/fittings/calls with production personnel and/or casts.
· Assists in the Supervising of rehearsals, tech. and dress
rehearsals, and works backstage at BCB productions and events on the main
stage as assigned by the Production Manager. This may include dance juries,
music division ensemble concerts, theater rentals, showcases, etc.
· Sets work schedule in conjunction with the Production Manager to
meet production and/or institutional needs, and may set the work schedules
of those under his/her supervision.
· Oversees rehearsal prop procurement for all main stage
productions assigned to in conjunction with prop manager, and may assist in
organization of props storage as needed. May be requested to assist in
procuring rehearsal props for other productions.
· Will serve as Stage Manager for 5 main stage productions.
· Performs other duties that enhance institutional professionalism
and/or academic needs.
*MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: *
BA required with professional experience as a Stage Manager. Prior work in
an educational environment, ability to read music and experience
supervising students and or volunteers required. Ideal candidate will have
experience in Theater, Dance, and Opera as Stage Manager or Assistant Stage
Manager.
*SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:*
*Supervises: Assistant Stage Managers, production technicians, student
workers.*
*WORK ENVIRONMENT: *
*31 Hemenway Street theater, production office (006), rehearsal studios,
props storage areas.*
*SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, ETC. (Responsible for
on-call, 24 HR. coverage, etc.):*
Nights and weekends required.
Must be able to lift objects of up to 30lbs and climb ladders up to 15 feet.
