TD/Production Manager - College Light Opera Company (CLOC)
This position is split full time and limited part time as follows:
• Full Time/Onsite - Mid May through August (Room and Board provided on campus)
• Part Time/Offsite – September through Mid May (primarily recruiting and consulting with
Executive/Artistic Director and General Manager)
**In the interest of clarity; The job is designed around, but is not limited to, someone in an early
academic career, ie; tenure seeking, term or adjunct faculty or staff, as a summer gig, augmenting
an academic job. Three and a half months+/- of summer stock (nine weeks of which are "summer stock
intense") with the balance of the year being a few hours per month of phone conversations, reviewing
resumes, reviewing equipment purchases, etc. The off season time is included to allow input into the
continuity and decision making of the company.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The TD/Production Manager is responsible for the management of the production staff and the
production elements of CLOC’s activities. Reporting to the Executive/Artistic Director, and working
with the General Manager, this position maintains a high level of artistic integrity, safety and
appropriate working environment for artistic and production personnel. The Production Manager/TD
also works to support the maintenance and improvement of the facility with specific attention to the
theatre spaces and equipment therein.
JOB DUTIES:
• Prepare, manage and monitor production budgets with the General Manager to ensure accurate
expenditures and adherence to production, staffing, and maintenance budget lines.
• Plan and maintain the production schedule for each show of a nine show season
• Recruit and supervise young designers and production staff
• Ensure all production personnel are well trained, all activities in the production department are
handled in a safe and responsible manner, and that the performance space is well maintained
• Create and maintain technical documentation and inventories
• Create and/or review construction drawings for all scenic elements
• Work with young designers and production staff to ensure that all productions are realized to the
highest artistic standard, within the constraints of CLOC’s schedules and budget
• Participate in build and load in as needed
• Manage the maintenance and repair of the facility and equipment
Qualifications / Required Skills
REQUIREMENTS:
• A thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used
in the operation of stage settings, rigging, scenery, lighting systems
• Ability to read and/or produce technical drawings in Vectorworks and/or AutoCad
• Experience working with lighting consoles (ETC Ion) and digital reinforcement sound systems
(Yamaha MRX-7D)
• Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and laws, with
specific regards to the live performance guidelines
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy and to establish and meet deadlines in a timely manner
• High professional standards with acute attention to details
• Exceptional mentoring, communication and collaborative skills with a demonstrated ability to lead
and motivate people
QUALIFICATIONS:
• MFA or equivalent experience, with a specialization in theatre and a passion for working with
young people
• Two to five years experience working as a TD and/or production manager in a academic, summer stock
or independent theatre context
• Valid Driver’s License
DESIRABLE ASSETS:
• ETCP Certification is an asset
• OSHA-30 or OSHA-10 Certification, or willingness to acquire, is an asset
• Experience teaching/mentoring in an academic institution is an asset
• Experience in one or two week summer stock theatre is an asset
Additional Information:

Salary: Salary is in the $12,000 range and will be commensurate with experience.

About the Company: The College Light Opera Company is an independent not-for-profit educational
theatre, providing a community in which young artists have the opportunity to practice and perfect
their art in a supportive and nurturing environment. CLOC is the largest resident theatre company in
the United States. Located in Falmouth on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the company performs at the
historic Highfield Theatre, producing nine operettas and musicals each season. CLOC is one of the
only summer theatres still performing with a full pit orchestra.
Founded in 1969, the company consists of 32 singers, an 18-piece orchestra, a Production Manager/TD,
3 designers, 13 technicians, 2 box office representatives, 2 accompanists, 2 associate conductors, a
choreographer, a stage manager, a co-op work director, a chef, a general manager, a marketing
director and a bullpen of professional directors and conductors; all of whom spend the summer
working in a professional atmosphere free of other academic responsibilities under the leadership of
our Executive/Artistic Director.
