John,
You may find that the MDF powders up rather than de-laminates like Masonite
under heavy loads. Also, don't get it wet. Make sure you are not getting
"Lightweight MDF" as it is not as dense. Finally, it comes an inch larger
than 4'x8', presumably to allow for dinged edges in transport.
We are still with 1/4" maso (Service Grade) and are doing pretty well.
Allow it to acclimate for a week or so (stacked loosely) and attach # 8" on
the perimeter and 12" in the remainder of the sheet.
