Texas Tech University Department of Theatre and Dance invites applications for a staff Production Electrician/Sound Engineer. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, and in close collaboration with the Department's Design Faculty, the Production Electrician & Sound Engineer works with lighting, projection, and sound designers to implement lighting, projection, and sound designs for all theatre and dance productions per academic year. This position works closely with the Faculty Lighting and Sound Design/Technology Supervisor(s) to ensure that the work in the shops successfully support the educational needs of the students and programs in all areas of the theatre curriculum. This position is responsible for supervising one or more student employees, temporary employees, and practicum students, the maintenance of departmental lighting and sound equipment, and other duties as assigned. The Master Electrician/Sound Engineer will schedule and train lab students, student lighting and sound crews, assemble and install projection equipment, and supervise and coordinate all sound recording and amplification for all Theatre and Dance events.

Requirements: A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in lighting and sound for the theatre is required. A minimum of 2 years of theatre lighting, projection and sound experience is required. Experience at an academic institution is preferred. Candidate must submit examples of budgeting, scheduling, and lighting and sound paperwork. Candidate must deploy professional skills in technical theatre production, strike, maintenance, and in collaboration with colleagues, to best promote the College's strategic interests. Must have extensive training and experience in theatrical lighting, projection, and sound with emphasis on the proper use of tools, materials, and equipment. Must be knowledgeable and experienced in theatrical practices and safety standards. Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic.

This is a full-time 12-month position with a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
