*Job Title: * Zack Box Theater Technical Director

*Reports to:*  Associate Director of Theater Division

*Hours:* Hourly (days/nights/weekends as needed), work spans January – June


Job Overview


Responsible for installation and load-out of all faculty and student
projects in the Zack Box Theater (approx. 50 seat black box).  Acts as a
supervisor for student and guest artist use of the studio space, including
scenic, lighting and sound installation.


Job Responsibilities



   - Maintain regular communication with Associate Director and other
   collaborators, via email, phone, and in-person meetings, including pre and
   post production meetings.  Check and respond to all forms (email,
   voicemail) of communication within 24 hours.



   - Adhere to and uphold all ZB policies, as outlined in the Zack Box
   Handbook



   - Work respectfully with all ZB tenants and help create a safe, positive
   working environment.



   - Oversee and lead the design stages of each event in collaboration with
   the Director and other production team members, with adherence to ZB policy
   and procedures



·         Serve as liaison between all ZB tenants and Production /Audio
Visual in regards to tenants’ tech needs and light/sound operation



   - Train and supervise student workers during calls, installations, and
   strikes



   - Advise and assist, as necessary, on scenic elements for ZB shows, with
   adherence to ZB policy and procedures



   - Secure vehicle and oversee pick-up and return of props/scenic
   elements, as necessary



   - Adapt lighting/rep plot for productions with assistance from student
   workers.



   - Supervise load-in and strike of Faculty, Student, and Artist in
   Residence productions.



   - Ensure that proper stage safety and adequate housekeeping is observed;
   Enforces all applicable OSHA and EPA standards.   Oversee safety conditions
   of space and equipment and follow up as necessary in regards to repair,
   replacement, etc.



   - Serve as performance supervisor as needed and be “on call” in case of
   emergencies.  Attend tech rehearsals, as needed, to resolve any problems
   encountered as well as to evaluate progress and functionality in planning
   the next day’s tech-related work.



   - Maintain housekeeping and basic repairs of the theater, in
   collaboration with Associate director, TBC Facilities and Production, as
   necessary.



   - Submit proposals for capital expenditures and improvements to
   Associate Director, as necessary.



   - Maintain stock of ZB gel/lamps/tools, etc.; Maintain all equipment, in
   collaboration with AV;  Maintain currency of all space plots, floorplans,
   etc.



   - Submit time sheets on a regular basis, per the schedule of TBC’s
   Business Office





 *Qualifications and Skills*



BA degree is required or applicable experience.  Excellent communication
and team collaboration skills a plus.  Experience with hanging/ focusing
lighting instruments, lighting instrument maintenance, minor rigging, and
construction/ installation of scenery, is required. Prior work with
students or volunteers in theater or performing arts environment is
preferred. Knowledge of lighting control boards is required.  Knowledge of
Vectorworks is required. Individual must possess a valid Driver’s License,
must be able to work independently and able to lift objects of up to 50
lbs.
