I know that educational institutions are not in the same position as we
are; but to keep up-to date with our rental equipment we turn over every
five years. This provides the newest gear for our rental customers and
some great "used" gear for our sales customers. Our inventory of rental
and new LED Source-4's continues to grow for off the shelf delivery.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has set replacement cycles for
theater equipment in general - lights, dimmers, console, sound system
components, soft goods, etc...

Are there any standards or "best practice" recommendations that have
been published?

Thanks!

Andy

A recent NAST report suggested that we should have in place a program of
replacing lighting equipment in some sort of cycle. Does anyone do
that, and if so what kind of turnover, etc. is appropriate (to a small
liberal arts college). We have mostly Altman 6x's and some
Shakespeares; fresnels and Source4 PARS.
