Very sorry to read this Michael. MIT is losing a great asset. Very best wishes for happy landings - it will be somebody's win. (And we're happy your wife's work will keep you in the region).

Subject: [Usittne] When one door closes......
Good Morning Friends,
I look forward to seeing many of you at USITT next week. I wanted to get this out to all of you so we can concentrate on good and not negative.
After 13 years at MIT (35 years working as a TD), The theater faculty here decided not to continue my contract. I am somewhat upset for myself but much more for the students and the program that I have worked so hard for.
It was about politics in Academia, Who would ever guess that. :-) And no it had nothing to do with money, it was about power and power inequity in academia. As new Faculty were hired they chaffed more and more at having me (and my experience) in a position of responsibility. There are may stories that could be told but you all probably have heard or experienced them yourselves so I refuse to dwell on them.
I am not sure what I will do next but I am not worried, My gorgeous and brilliant wife is a Director of Medical Writing at a major Biotech firm and she has and will continue to support me in the manner to which I have become accustomed. So I have time to find a good meaningful job and not just the first one that comes along. I am incredibly lucky to have that support.
If any one has a inkling about a PM or TD job, or perhaps adjunct teaching on tech or management let me know, I will be at MIT through this semester.
I look forward to raising a glass (or 2) with you all soon
Bruised but kicking
Mike
