[Usittne] importance of the arts blog

Dear USITT NE members,

I realize that the last thing we need is some stupid blog to read and comment on.  Yet, I felt with the current economic climate of our country and the way the arts are always the first to get cut that it warrented the creation of some discussion among ourselves.  
My students tell me that my blog is not controversial enough to get anyone to read it.  That may be true.  I tend to be non-confrontational as you know.  So I am asking you to please take what I have written and comment on it. Make it controversial.  I know many of you can do it.  :-)  
Get people to at least discuss why the arts are essential to our education system and why they should not be cut.
