When was the last time you updated your resume...your portfolio?

Updating these items is an important step in self-promotion, marketing,
and job hunting.

Whether you're just out of school or you've been working in theatre for
20 years, we encourage you to join us for the Resume and Portfolio
workshop in December hosted by Rafael Jaen (Costume Designer, and author
of "Developing and Maintaining a Design-Tech Portfolio") and Leslie Chiu
(Production Manager, Brandeis Theater Company) 

The Resume and Portfolio workshop will be presented in two sessions:

SESSION ONE: How to Prepare and Present Portfolio, Resume and Cover
Letter on Monday, December 7, 6:00-8:00pm

SESSION TWO: Resume and Portfolio Review on Tuesday, December 8,
6:30-8:30pm

Cancellation Policy: You must cancel by Thursday, December 3 in order to
receive a refund.  Cancellations made after December 3 will not be
refunded.

This workshop will be held in two parts. You may register for one or
both sessions.  

SESSION ONE: Prepare and Present Portfolio, Resume and Cover Letter 
Monday, December 7, 6:00-8:00pm
Session One will focus on how to prepare and present your design
portfolio, resume/cover letter with presentation by both Mr. Jaen and
Ms. Chiu.

- The Ideal Design-Tech Portfolio: Tips for the Trade
- The Basics: the traditional book, portfolio case styles, planning
steps, venue considerations and layout techniques 
- The Advanced: Overview of multi-tasking digital archives, digital
portfolios, and web sites
- Presentation Skills: An introduction 
- What is the right size portfolio?
- How do I choose a portfolio for my concentration?
- Where can I find affordable materials?
- How many pages should a portfolio have?
- Can I create a web site without knowing HTML coding?
- Do I need to know Dreamweaver to create a web site?
- How do I convert my files to PDF'S?
- What is the difference between UR/TA Portfolio reviews and other
venues, i.e. KC/ACTF?

Resume

- Building a Resume
- Purpose, formats and styles, writing and maintaining your resume(s)
- Cover letter basics, references and recommendation letters
- How to maximize the impact of your resume

Interviewing

- How to prepare for your interview
- How to build strong interviewing skills 
- Questions you should ask at your interview and how to follow up
- Networking Skills: An introduction


SESSION TWO: Resume and Portfolio Review
Tuesday, December 8, 6:30-8:30pm
Session Two will be a Resume and Portfolio Review Session.  Attendees
can sign up for a 10 minute time slot with either Rafael (portfolio
review), Leslie (resume review), or both.  The presenters will review
your materials and give you advice on how to create a stronger
presentation.
