Hi -

I attended the Nominations Committee on Saturday afternoon as the  
representative for the New England Section, and while I am not at  
liberty to discuss the deliberations or results of the meeting, there  
are a few things I do want to communicate.

First, the names of four members from the New England Section were  
submitted to the Committee for possible nomination as Director At  
Large.  Thanks to John Devlin, Rafael Jaen, Mike Katz and John Prokos  
for their willingness to be considered for nomination.  I was  glad to  
be able to speak on behalf of our candidates, and was equally  
impressed by the supportive comments that were made by other members  
of the Committee on behalf of each of these folks.  Clearly, these  
four have made substantial, positive impressions on the membership of  
USITT beyond our region.

Second, informally there was a good deal of conversation regarding the  
participation of students and young professionals in the leadership of  
USITT.  While no conclusions were reached, I think there was a clear  
consensus that this is an important issue which the Committee (and  
USITT as a whole) should be considering.  The members of the Committee  
were asked to pass along our thoughts on this subject, and I would be  
happy to hear your thoughts and forward them along with my own.

Finally, the slate of nominees for Treasurer, four Vice Presidents and  
six Directors At Large will be published in advance of the upcoming  
election.  This is a critical time for USITT as it considers its  
future governance.  I urge you to keep an eye out for this  
announcement and to participate in the election.
