Regarding the New England section meeting in Cincinnati in March:
I hope to see many of you in Cincinnati at our next meeting and I would like you to bring ideas and thoughts. I have been the chair for many years now and have not seen our members be very active. I have supported and often organized items such as: REPA Job Expo, tours of facilities, workshops, involvement in the regional Kennedy Center, social events and so on. It is always the same handful of people, about 5 of you, who show up and/or help out. We rarely attract new or young people into this organization. Our section has not changed or grown significantly over the past few years and I am at a loss to figure out how to get more people involved and excited about our section. The last workshop that Bill Beautyman proposed only received one response in interest. So, I want to know, what should we be doing that you are willing to be an active participant in creating? Or......are we OK with being members that simply don't do much? To be honest, I have become tired and
apathetic myself. Without the support and enthusiasm from the members it feels pointless to me to continue creating opportunities and I am beginning to consider what will happen to this group if I should choose to resign from this position. With that in mind, I will be running our meeting very differently in March -- you won't be disappointed. Let's work together and come up with a new strategic plan.
