Zeitgeist Stage Company seeks a Costume  Designer for Spring Awakening: The 
Play by Frank  Wedekind.  Written in the 1890’s, the show is Wedekind’s ground 
 breaking play about adolescent sexuality that is the most censored play in  
history, not getting produced as written for 75 years.  The show examines the 
lives of teenagers  in provincial Germany as their sexual awakenings  are 
repressed by the conservative society of their parents.  Proving timeless a 
century later, the  play is the basis for the Tony Award winning musical of the same 
name.  Zeitgeist Stage Company won  Elliot Norton Awards for Outstanding 
Fringe Theater production in 2005, 2007,  & 2008.  This is a period show  with a 
cast of approximately 20.  There is a stipend associated with the  position. 
Performances:  April  17 through May 9, Plaza Black Box Theater at the Boston 
Center  for the Arts, 539 Tremont  St in Boston’s South End   
Rehearsals:  Start  in early March.  Rehearsals will be  held in the greater 
Boston area and will be accessible by public  transportation. 
Roles:   
(A)  4-6 Schoolgirls, (F), 14 to 23, Wendla,  Thea, Martha, Ilse, etc. 
(B)  7-8 Schoolboys, (M), 14 to 23, Melchior,  Moritz, Otto, Georg, Robert, 
Ernst, Hanschen, etc. 
(C)  3-5 Adults, (F), 30 to 50,  Parents/Schoolmasters: Mrs Gabor, Mrs 
Bergmann,  etc. 
(D)  5-7 Adults (M), 30 to 60, Parents,  Schoolmasters, Pastor, Doctor: Mr 
Gabor, Mr Stiefel,  etc.
