I'll second the use of Neoflex; although I don't believe it's quite as inexpensive as stated.
You could also try some of the newer RGB LED ropelights, which could allow for some nifty color-changing effects during the show, too.

Is this also too expensive? It's 32 bucks for 50 feet, but some additional equipment is required.

Hi folks,
I'm consulting the collective wisdom of the subscribers here. We're doing PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES and I'm looking for a way to fake neon (assuming that purchasing custom neon is too much, though I'll pursue that option too). The pieces are not too complex--see the attached PDF file. There are two bands following the profile. The show opens on 7/29/08, so we'd need to have the pieces earlier than that. (A product like rope light would be really sweet if it wasn't outrageously expensive, and not rope light--I'm looking for two 25' runs.)
