Or Qlab will do it - but again, mac only.

If you want to do it in hardware the extron ISS506 does very nice fades between up to 4 computers - it goes up to 5 seconds.

We've dealt with this same problem, and the only way we were able to solve it is by changing computers.  KeyNote (which is a Mac only program) is the Apple answer to PowerPoint, and it allows for timed transitions (very smooth, any timing you would like) and it allows to embed video.  The downside is that you have to be on a Mac...

I appreciate the video dowser responses earlier, which showed me that a
number of people are dealing with projections in shows. I'm serving a
heavy projection show (mostly stills, some video) with PowerPoint on 2
PCs and I'm really unhappy with the transitions, which are far too rapid
and inelegant even at the "slow" speed. I've been all over the internet
for a hack or alternative product that will let me specify fades, with
no success. Does anybody have suggestions of PowerPoint hacks or other
products they've worked with successfully that can achieve, say a 5 or
10sec dissolve to the next slide?
