[Usittne] Important notice to USITTNE list members

This is a reminder to the members of our community of how our list
serve operates. Please review the information below. Our list is set
up to enhance The United States Institute for Theater Technology New
England Region's community and communications. In order to enhance
Discussion the list is set up to send replies to all list members by
default. If you want to reply privately you must put the senders
email in the "TO" field otherwise the message will be sent to
everyone.

We have converted the USITTNE at mit.edu list to a mailman list that
will allow you the subscribers to the list to subscribe or
un-subscribe or edit your email address. We will also have a
searchable archive of messages to the list so you can check for
information that you remembered we discussed way back when. You will
also if you are overwhelmed by the sheer bulk of messages :-) be
able to choose a daily digest as your delivery system. One bit of
administrivia that will occur is that you will be sent a password if
you do not set up your own at the web site. This password will allow
you to view the archives and or change your email address etc. The
system will send this password to you once a month by default but you
can change that at the web site.
The web site that will work all this magic is:

   http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/usittne

Your colleagues and students can subscribe either at the web site or
by sending an e-mail message to:

usittne-join at mit.edu - by sending a message to this address, a new
member can request subscription to the list. Both the Subject: header
and body of such a message are ignored. Note that
usittne-subscribe at mit.edu is an alias for the -join address.

usittne-leave at mit.edu - by sending a message to this address, a
member can request un-subscription from the list. As with the -join
address, the Subject: header and body of the message is ignored. Note
that usittne-unsubscribe at emit.edu is an alias for the -leave address.

usittne-owner at mit.edu - This address reaches the list owner and list
moderators directly. This is the address you use if you need to
contact the person or people in charge. That would be me, Mike Katz

Finally, to post to the list send to:
usittne at mit.edu - this is the email address people should use for new
postings to the list.

I can help list members who have a problem signing up or with the
list delivery, however it is very helpful if each person signs
themselves up at the web site so that they can customize the options
and take the details off me.
You can sign up with as many E-mail addresses as you use and set some
not to send mail so that you only receive it on one address. You
would want to do this if you have more than 1 address that you send
to the list with. The list is set up to reject posts from non-list
members so that the list will not become a spam source. If you do
send from another address the message is sent to me and I will send
it on as soon as I am able, usually a few days later.
