Good Day,
Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is pleased to recommend Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5.2 (RHEL 5.2) and announces full support for it. RHN
subscribers at MIT were automatically upgraded to RHEL 5.2 in May.
This recommendation follows the completion of additional testing and
documenting efforts for RHEL 5.2. IS&T initiated a release project
because RHEL 5.2 includes many important user-visible differences not
normally delivered between minor releases.
IS&T has tested all Linux-compatible software on the MIT Software
download
web site against both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of a fresh
install of
RHEL 5.2 and against 32 and 64 bit systems subscribed to Red Hat Network
(RHN). All is well.
New documentation on several of the features most visible to users is
now
available, including:
* Firefox 3.0: http://itinfo.mit.edu/product.php?vid=808
* Acrobat Reader 8.x:
