Hello,
We're holding a Unix User Group meeting in the N42 Demo Center this
Thursday, 16-June-2005 from 1:30 to 2:30. We need to start promptly at
1:30 as we have to be out of the room at 2:45 at the absolute latest
because of scheduling factors.
The topic for this meeting will be the rollout of Red Hat Enterprise Linux
4.0 on campus. We'll talk about various issues related to the rollout
testing and new/improved features in the operating system. The RHEL 4
Release team will be meeting just prior to the Unix Users event to push
the "go live" button for RHEL 4 thereby making RHEL 4 officially
supported on campus.
The current topics to be discussed are:
-2.6 kernel
-SElinux
-Firefox
-Open Office Upgrade
-Evolution 2.0
-GNOME 2.8
-Standardized ABI
-x server from x.org
-pine
-Adobe Reader 7.0
- License issues with RHEL 4
- The new RHN Satellite Update Server
- Known issues
If you have been working with RHEL 4 as an early tester, please make an
effort to come to the meeting to share your experiences. If you have not
been using RHEL 4, please attend and find out what's been going on. There
has been a lot of activity related to this rollout so it should be an
info-packed session.
Regards,
Bob Lang (for the RHEL 4 Release Team)
