Unified Students:

We have an exciting opportunity for you to get up in a small plane,
experience some stalls, 2g turns ... even the phugoid mode.

Thursday, May 4th is the MANDATORY flight safety lecture (1-2pm, 35-225)
Tuesday, May 16th is the primary day (after noon)
Thursday, May 18th (after noon) is the alternate if we get rained out
on the 16th

  NOTES:

1) The flight safety lecture this Thursday is MANDATORY. We will be
taking attendance. If you are not there at the BEGINNING of class,
and present for the whole lecture, you will not be allowed to fly.

2) On flight day we will start by taking a van full of people (about
14) to Hanscom. These folks must be ready to leave MIT by shortly
after 12pm. Then we will run a regular shuttle from Alewife
T-station to and from Hanscom. Our objective is to always have about
10 people waiting in the queue at the field. With the exception of
the first van load, you will be responsible for getting yourself to
and from Alewife with sufficient lead time so the van is not kept
waiting.

3) Although the 18th is penciled in as our rain date, at this time we
don't have enough pilots (who are covered on the Institute's
insurance policy) for this date. We are still working on this, but
for now, keep your fingers crossed for good weather on the 16th since
the alternate may not be viable.

Paul Bauer will be managing the air-side operations (and giving the
safety lecture). Andy Hill will be managing the ground-side
operations (the van, etc.). More details on both the flights and the
van will be forthcoming.

For now, mark your calendars and attend the Thursday lecture.

Best wishes,

- Ian
